ENGIE Vianeo, active in the German market since July 2023, is expanding its network of charging infrastructure for electric heavy goods transport. In cooperation with 24-Autohöfe, two new charging parks will be realised along the A7 motorway. This axis is part of the Scandinavian-Mediterranean TEN-T corridor and is one of the most important north-south connections for freight transport in Germany and Europe.
The 24-Autohöfe service areas have been identified as efficient locations for alternative drive infrastructure due to their accessibility from both directions of the motorway and the surrounding region. In addition to charging facilities, they offer gastronomy, services, and a high quality of stay for heavy goods vehicles. More than 2,000 HGV drivers daily find secure parking spaces at 24-Autohöfe nationwide.
Planned Locations and Capacities
At the 24-Autohof Homberg (Efze), strategically located on the A7 near Kassel, ENGIE Vianeo plans to commission three charging points, each with 400 kilowatts, and one Megawatt Charging System (MCS) charger with 1,000 kilowatts by spring 2027. This location already boasts significant logistics expertise, evidenced by a central transshipment warehouse of the European forwarding network ELVIS, an Amazon distribution centre, and a Palletways logistics hub.
Also planned for the first half of 2027 is the construction of four charging points, each with 400 kilowatts, and one MCS charger with 1,000 kilowatts at the 24-Shell Autohof Gramschatzer Wald on the A7 near Würzburg. The partnership between ENGIE Vianeo and 24-Autohöfe includes further planning for locations along central European transport axes.
Strategic Orientation and Nationwide Development
The implementation of ENGIE Vianeo's long-term site model along such an important European freight transport axis serves to realise a continuous charging network along central logistics corridors. The company aims to implement 25,000 charging points across Europe by 2030, of which 1,000 are specifically designed for heavy electric commercial vehicles.
