The foundation stone for the Parkside Lerchenauer Feld residential quarter was laid yesterday. Participating in the ceremony were Bayerische Hausbau Development, Munich's City Building Councillor Prof. Dr. (Univ. Florence) Elisabeth Merk, and Florian Schörghuber, CEO of Schörghuber Gruppe, in the presence of further representatives from politics, administration, and the real estate industry. This groundbreaking marks a significant development step for the project in northern Munich following the completion of earthworks and civil engineering.
With a project volume of approximately 1,650 flats, Lerchenauer Feld is one of the significant quarter developments in the northern city area. In addition to residential space, a grammar school, a primary school, six childcare facilities, and local supply services are planned. Approximately 32,000 square metres of public green spaces will also be created. The urban planning concept aims for a mixed-use urban quarter designed to provide short distances and efficient social infrastructure.
The urban planning concept of Parkside Lerchenauer Feld combines urban density with generous open spaces. The quarter's structure is characterised by loosely arranged buildings, green courtyards, and a central green corridor. This is intended to allow for clear spatial organisation and ensure a connection between living, encounters, and recreation. Bayerische Hausbau Development is responsible for the development of three construction fields within the new urban quarter. According to current planning, approximately 600 flats with a total area of 34,000 square metres are envisaged for these construction fields. The first construction phase includes the realisation of 165 flats and a childcare facility.
Gordon Gorski, CEO of Bayerische Hausbau Development, stated that a project of this dimension requires a long realisation period, which is why the groundbreaking ceremony is of particular importance. He emphasised that a quarter would emerge from a joint plan that will shape Munich for decades to come. Gorski underscored the necessity for housing in Munich and referred to Bayerische Hausbau Development's over 72 years of activity as a partner to the city in construction.
Prof. Dr. (Univ. Florence) Elisabeth Merk, City Building Councillor for the State Capital of Munich, highlighted that Munich needs new quarters that integrate offerings in education, open spaces, mobility, social services, and local supply beyond mere residential space. This demand for sustainable urban development is exemplarily met at Lerchenauer Feld. She described the groundbreaking as an important signal for the creation of an urban and liveable future quarter. Florian Schörghuber, CEO of Schörghuber Gruppe, reaffirmed investments in Munich and Germany as an expression of confidence in the strength of the location. He cited Munich's successful companies, its scientific landscape, and cultural life, as well as the willingness of stakeholders to jointly overcome investment hurdles, as the basis for such developments.
