The bookseller Hugendubel is expanding in Saxony-Anhalt and will open a new branch at Leipziger Straße 7 in Halle (Saale) on 30 October 2026. The new branch, located on the ground floor and accessible without barriers, will encompass a sales area of 520 square metres. This development underscores Halle's appeal as a retail location and strengthens the local infrastructure.
The architectural concept and planning, as well as the coordination of the executing trades, were entrusted to the interior design firm Planhochzwei from Munich, a long-standing partner of Hugendubel. The design of the new bookshop is geared towards a modern, airy atmosphere with warm colours, creating open and inviting areas for customers to linger. Free Wi-Fi will also be available to customers in the branch.
Product Range and Target Group Focus
Hugendubel's product range in Halle will cover a wide spectrum of literature, from novels, thrillers and romance to non-fiction, manga and comics. This offering will be complemented by non-book items, gift ideas and a dedicated Legami shop. Special attention will be paid to the youngest readers: a dedicated children's area with a playhouse and slide is planned to create an engaging environment for young readers.
Nina Hugendubel, managing partner of the company, emphasised the importance of Halle as a location in this context. She referred to the traditional yet innovative character of Händelstadt, which is distinguished by a combination of history, culture and a vibrant urban community. These characteristics, she stated, made Halle a suitable location for a new bookshop, which is intended to serve as a meeting point.
Regional Presence
With the new branch in Halle (Saale), Hugendubel is expanding its presence in Saxony-Anhalt, where the company already operates a branch in Wernigerode. In total, Hugendubel will operate 36 branches in eastern Germany following this new opening. This strengthens the bookseller's market position in the region.
