HIH Invest Real Estate GmbH and Saxovent Renewables GmbH & Co. KG have initiated a strategic collaboration. The objective of this cooperation is the systematic integration of renewable energies into existing properties. The focus is on the comprehensive analysis, development, and realisation of sustainable energy solutions on existing spaces. This includes, in particular, the examination of roof areas and existing infrastructures to meaningfully integrate the generation of renewable energies into real estate strategies.
The partnership aims to unlock untapped potential in existing properties and establish long-term economically viable energy concepts. Jan Steggewentz, Branch Manager Hannover and Head of Project Development PV at Saxovent Renewables, emphasised that the energy transition in the building stock requires pragmatic and economic solutions. He highlighted that the collaboration with HIH creates the basis for identifying potential spaces and efficiently implementing sustainable energy concepts. Significant potential is evident in existing real estate portfolios to combine renewable energies with existing structures, thereby generating economic added value for property owners, tenants, and system operators.
Holistic Approach and Value Creation
The approach being pursued is comprehensive. In addition to classic photovoltaic solutions, other possibilities for energy supply and optimisation are being examined on a site-specific basis. This includes the integration of storage systems, charging infrastructures, or heat pumps, depending on the respective property. The overarching goal is to position properties to be ecologically and economically fit for the future and to optimally utilise available spatial potentials. Fynn Rotzoll, Project Lead PV Rooftop at HIH Invest Real Estate, stated that Saxovent is being connected to the platform as a strong partner. He mentioned that three joint projects will go into implementation this year, with others still in development.
Mr. Rotzoll highlighted that renewable energies will increasingly be an integral component of real estate in the future due to sustainability requirements, investor and tenant expectations, and regulatory stipulations. For HIH Invest Real Estate's funds, this means additional income as well as the opportunity for sustainable appreciation of property value. Tenants could benefit from affordable, environmentally friendly tenant power. He emphasised that success largely depends on strong partnerships, from developers like Saxovent to general contractors and technical consultants.
Significance and Future Prospects
Given increasing demands for energy efficiency, ESG criteria, and security of supply, the intelligent use of existing infrastructures is becoming increasingly important. The cooperation between Saxovent Renewables and HIH Invest Real Estate creates the necessary foundation for this. It is planned to implement this collaboration at several locations in the future to achieve a broad impact and comprehensively decarbonise the real estate portfolio.
