ista International GmbH, a renowned service provider for energy and property management, has acquired Homenergy GmbH. This acquisition aims to substantially complement ista's offering in integrated energy solutions for building decarbonisation. Homenergy specialises in the planning and installation of heat pump and photovoltaic systems and has sold and installed approximately 4,500 such systems in the last four years.
Homenergy's service portfolio, in addition to its core services, includes battery storage, wall boxes and home energy management systems. Furthermore, the company offers service and maintenance. With this strategy, ista aims to position itself as a full-service provider for integrated energy solutions in the building sector and to comprehensively support customers in the transformation of their properties.
Strategic expansion of services
Mr. Hagen Lessing, CEO of ista, stated that with Homenergy, they are gaining an experienced team and a high-performance platform for building decarbonisation. This expertise is to be made available to all ista customers to simplify decarbonisation. Lessing emphasised that the energy transition affects not only multi-family homes but also millions of single and two-family homes. The acquisition enables ista to tap into a future-relevant market and expand its offering with climate-friendly energy supply solutions.
Homenergy has a fully digitised customer journey that covers all essential steps of service delivery. This includes sales, technical planning, project management, installation, and subsequent service. Mr. Hannes Münzinger, Managing Director of Homenergy, explained that combining their own experience in heat pumps, photovoltaics, and digital installation processes with ista's reach and infrastructure represents the next stage of development for Homenergy. This opens up the opportunity to support a significantly larger number of customers in their energy supply transformation.
Market development in the heating sector
The German heating market is undergoing a structural change, characterised by significant growth in the heat pump segment. In the first half of 2026, the German heating industry recorded an increase in sales volumes compared to the same period last year. According to the German Heating Industry Association (BDH), a total of approximately 352,000 heat generators were sold from January to June, representing a 19 per cent increase compared to the first half of 2025. Heat pumps accounted for more than half of all installations with 194,500 units.
