The Supervisory Board of GESOBAU AG, chaired by Birgit Benz, has appointed Lars Holborn as a member of the Management Board for a period of three years, effective 1 July 2026. Holborn has already been on the Management Board since 1 January 2026, initially on an interim basis until the official recruitment process was completed. This appointment is intended to provide continuity and planning security at the top of the company.
In his position as Board Member for Investment and Service, Lars Holborn is responsible for key strategic areas of action for GESOBAU AG. His areas of responsibility include property management, technical services/new construction, human resources, and corporate communications. These departments highlight the broad scope of his responsibility within the company.
Lars Holborn holds a degree in business administration and has over 30 years of experience in the real estate industry. He has been in a management position at GESOBAU since 2006, most recently as an authorised signatory for property management. This extensive internal expertise makes him ideally suited for the now permanently assigned board position. Furthermore, since 2014 and 2020 respectively, he has served as managing director of two of the company's subsidiaries, which also demonstrates his comprehensive knowledge of the company's structures and processes.
In his previous roles, Holborn played a significant part in shaping the development of the existing portfolio and the implementation of the new construction offensive. This active role in shaping the real estate portfolio and the expansion of the company is testament to his performance and strategic thinking. The appointment to the board position followed an application process supported by a recruitment consultancy.
Birgit Benz, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, commented on the appointment, emphasising that Lars Holborn is a distinguished leader who knows the company exceptionally well and provides important impetus for its continued development. She highlighted that his appointment stands for reliability and continuity.
Lars Holborn himself stated that he was pleased about the trust placed in him by the Supervisory Board and the now long-term perspective. He expressed his desire to work together with his fellow board member Christian Wilkens and the employees to strengthen GESOBAU as a partner for affordable housing in Berlin and to position it for the future. This underscores the focus on the company's core tasks and social responsibility in the Berlin housing market.
