Becton Dickinson, a company specialising in the development of medical technology, is relocating its German headquarters within Heidelberg. The company is vacating its previous site at Tullastrasse 8-12 and moving to Europaplatz. Around 3,200 square metres of office space have been leased in the office and commercial building at Europaplatz 2-5. Move-in to the new premises is scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.

Sustainable new office building in Bahnstadt fully let

The property forms part of a neighbourhood development in the Bahnstadt district. Designed to passive house standards, the building holds a DGNB Gold certificate. The total lettable area amounts to around 14,000 square metres, of which approximately 12,900 square metres are arranged as office space across the five upper floors. The owner of the building is Gustav Zech Stiftung.

With the conclusion of the lease agreement by Becton Dickinson, the office and commercial building is now fully let. Other occupiers of the property include publishing house Springer Nature and commercial law firm GSK. Real estate services firm JLL managed the letting process and advised Becton Dickinson under an exclusive mandate through to contract completion.

Significant transaction for the Heidelberg office market

Konstantinos Krikelis, Metro Lead Office Leasing & Investment at JLL Rhein-Neckar, described the agreement as what is likely to be the largest office transaction in Heidelberg this year. In his view, this step highlights the enduring importance of prime locations offering urban infrastructure and high-quality working environments in corporate location decisions.

The relocation of the corporate headquarters to Europaplatz underlines the trend among institutional tenants to combine accommodation decisions with stringent energy standards and central transport links. Bahnstadt thereby consolidates its position as an established office location within the Rhine-Neckar region.
