The Bristol Berlin, a well-known establishment on Berlin's Kurfürstendamm, is currently undergoing a repositioning phase. This development includes its integration into IHG Hotels & Resorts' Vignette Collection as the first German hotel within this luxury brand. Mareke Watson, a manager with extensive industry experience, has been entrusted with leading this process since May 2024. Her task is to establish the property as a contemporary luxury hotel and help shape the presence of the Vignette Collection in Germany.
Before her current position, Mareke Watson led the voco The Hague, which was honoured as “Business Hotel of the Year” at the 2024 European Hotel Awards under her management. Her career with IHG began in 2014 in the Revenue Management Graduate Programme. She gained further leadership experience as the head of the Holiday Inn Express Munich City West and in establishments such as the InterContinental Berlin and the Regent Hotel. Her training took place in an English private hotel and through an accelerated degree programme in Hospitality Administration at the Hotelschool The Hague.
Strategic Development and Industry Engagement
Mareke Watson expressed her delight at the opportunity to help shape the future of the Bristol Berlin. She emphasised the importance of appreciation and collaboration within a team-oriented leadership style. The repositioning of the Bristol Berlin coincides with the launch of the Vignette Collection in Germany and represents an exciting new era. Furthermore, the hotel's 75th anniversary is approaching next year, marking another milestone in the property's history.
Beyond her operational duties, Mareke Watson is involved as a member of the IHG Global Boards. There, she promotes the international exchange of best practices in the areas of inclusion and belonging. Her goal is to achieve sustainable progress for an inclusive environment where both guests and employees feel valued. She also advocates for the further development of tourism at a local level. Her leadership style is geared towards the needs of international guests and aims to actively connect the individual identity of the Bristol Berlin with the global orientation of the Vignette Collection.
