The housing company Vonovia announces the completion of modernisation measures at its residential complex in Immenstädter Straße in Kempten. Investments totalled over EUR 430,000, primarily for the energy-saving refurbishment of the buildings dating from the 1950s. The aim of the measures was to reduce energy consumption and ensure the long-term preservation of the assets.

The work undertaken included a series of structural alterations. These comprise the insulation of the roof, facade, and cellar ceilings of the buildings at Immenstädter Straße 31 and 33. In addition, new triple-glazed plastic windows were installed in the stairwells and individual residential units. Furthermore, a hydraulic balancing of the heating system was carried out to ensure efficient and uniform heat distribution throughout the entire building.

Concurrently with the energy-saving modernisations, extensive maintenance measures were undertaken. These included the renewal of gutters and downpipes, as well as the external lighting. The intercom systems and letterboxes were also replaced. The refurbishment of balconies and external cellar stairs, as well as a new coat of paint in the stairwells, complete the catalogue of measures.

Robert Stellmach, Regional Head for Bavaria at Vonovia, emphasised the dual impact of these investments. He highlighted that the improved insulation and modern technology directly lead to reduced energy consumption for tenants. This benefits living comfort through more pleasant room temperatures and a generally better indoor climate. Manuela Gebhart, Regional Head for Bavaria-South at Vonovia, added that the work not only resulted in an appealing appearance but also improved the indoor climate and thus the quality of living. She classified the modernisation as an important contribution to climate protection within the neighbourhoods.

The significance of these measures also stems from the fact that the building sector in Germany is responsible for a substantial share, approximately one third, of CO2 emissions. The energy-saving improvements are expected to significantly reduce heating energy demand in the future. This not only protects the climate in the long term but also stabilises ancillary costs for residents. With a portfolio of over 360 flats, the company Vonovia is a major landlord in Kempten.
