myflexbox and ALDI Nord will collaborate in the future on the expansion of open parcel locker stations. This strategic partnership aims to extend the infrastructure for parcel services at grocery retail locations. Three myflexbox stations have already been put into operation at ALDI Nord stores in Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Further implementations are currently in the realisation phase.
The integration of these parcel stations complements the existing services offered by ALDI Nord locations with additional services for parcel dispatch and receipt. This allows customers to combine their shopping with receiving, sending, or returning parcels. The myflexbox systems are designed as an open infrastructure, permitting use by various parcel and logistics service providers.
Synergies through the One-Stop-Shop Principle
The implementation of parcel stations at ALDI Nord stores follows the one-stop-shop principle. This means that parcel services are offered in places that are frequented by the public in their daily lives anyway. This integration allows for the bundling of errands and helps avoid additional journeys. Jonathan Grothaus, CEO International and Founder of myflexbox, emphasises the suitability of grocery retail locations for open parcel infrastructure. He highlights that these places are visited regularly and are firmly integrated into everyday structures, making ALDI Nord a significant partner for network expansion.
Efficiency and Sustainability in the Last Mile
The myflexbox model promotes the shared use of a parcel station by different parcel service providers. This enables efficient use of space and reduces the need for parallel, individual solutions. The consolidation of delivery volumes at central local hubs, such as ALDI Nord branches, contributes to maximising the first-delivery rate. Furthermore, this infrastructure eases urban delivery traffic and contributes to reducing local CO₂ emissions.
