At the 34th General Assembly of the German Council of Shopping Places (GCSP) last week, the new Board was elected. This body will guide the association's fortunes for the next four years. The new appointments aim to significantly influence and advance the future development of the retail property segment through specific expertise and extensive industry knowledge.
Ulrich Schmitz from ECE Marketplaces GmbH & Co. KG was appointed Chairman of the Board. Schmitz brings extensive experience from his work within the association and the industry, gained, among other things, in the Security Commission, the ESG Committee, and at an international level. These qualifications form the basis for setting strategic impulses that are relevant for the future direction of the sector.
The Board is further complemented by Susanne Gehle from Kaufland Dienstleistung GmbH & Co. KG and Simon Splittgerber from Union Investment Real Estate GmbH. Both Board members possess many years of expertise within the GCSP. Their perspectives, drawing from the fields of retail properties, asset management, and retail, will enrich the Board's work in the coming years and help shape the association's strategic direction.
Recognition of Long-Standing Service
Within the framework of the General Assembly, the long-standing voluntary service of Christine Hager and Harald Ortner was also recognised. Both individuals were honoured as GCSP Honorary Ambassadors, acknowledging their extraordinary commitment to the association. Their farewell marks a change in personnel composition, yet their contributions remain significant for the history of the GCSP.
The composition of the new Board underscores the German Council of Shopping Places' endeavour to proactively address the challenges and developments in the retail property market, based on proven experience and fresh impulses. The association is thus strategically repositioning itself to further consolidate its role as a key player in the industry and to set forward-looking standards.
