B
ill Hader surprised a local LA news crew covering the devastating wildfires in the Pacific Palisades on Thursday morning. A team from ABC 7 News was reporting live when a masked man approached them, claiming he wanted to ride with them and help cover the disaster. Unbeknownst to the journalists, this ordinary-looking civilian was none other than actor Bill Hader.
As reported by Josh Haskell of ABC 7, Hader's unexpected appearance left the team stunned. "An only in LA moment" is how Haskell described it on social media, sharing a photo of Hader giving a peace sign while wearing his face mask. The news crew was even more surprised when Hader pulled down his mask and revealed himself.
Hader's house had narrowly escaped the flames, but unfortunately, many of his neighbors were not so lucky. Almost every other house on his Pacific Palisades street burned to the ground, leaving only a few standing. Hader's $4.2 million home was one of them, with only some minor damage from the fire.
The Emmy-winning actor had bought the contemporary home in 2019 and was able to return to it briefly on Thursday to check on its condition. The devastating scene around him served as a stark reminder of the unpredictable power of nature. Hader's experience is just one of many stories of celebrities who were forced to evacuate their homes due to the wildfires, with some losing everything.
The Pacific Palisades was severely affected by the fires, with over 5,000 structures destroyed and more than 200,000 people evacuated. The death toll has risen to at least 11 people, with multiple fires still burning in the area.
