Actor Richard Gere Unloads Connecticut Mansion for $10.75M Before Spain Move

Actor Leaves New Canaan Home for Wife's Hometown Madrid

A
ctor Richard Gere has sold his Connecticut home, which he purchased from musicians Paul Simon and Edie Brickell just two years ago, for $10.75 million. This sale represents a slight loss compared to the $10.8 million the couple paid for the property in 2022. The nearly 32-acre estate features a main house built in 1938 with five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and an English country-style design. A three-bedroom guest cottage is also situated on the grounds, which Simon used as a recording studio during his ownership.

The sprawling plot boasts various amenities including a swimming pool, terraced patios, gardens, woodland trails, a natural pond, and a waterfall. The main house spans approximately 8,800 square feet with intricate millwork, three fireplaces, and picture windows showcasing the grounds. Each bedroom has its own full bathroom, and the primary suite features a private balcony, wood-burning fireplace, and built-in cedar closet.

Gere's decision to sell the property comes as he prepares to relocate to Madrid with his wife, Spanish publicist Alejandra Silva. In an interview earlier this year, Gere explained that moving abroad would be a new adventure for him, while allowing his wife to reconnect with her family, friends, and culture. The couple has two children born in 2019 and 2020 and were married in 2018.
