A
cademy Award-winning actress Jessica Chastain is once again trying to sell her Manhattan co-op, located across from Carnegie Hall. The four-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom home in the prestigious Osborne building was previously owned by legendary composer Leonard Bernstein and purchased by Chastain for $5.1 million in 2015.
The listing price has been reduced to $6.49 million after a previous attempt to sell for $7.45 million last May. The 3,200-square-foot residence features modern amenities alongside restored turn-of-the-century details like oak parquet floors and carved doorways.
Designed by AD100 designers Carrier and Company, the home boasts two formal living rooms with mahogany paneling, high ceilings, and a bay window with leaded glass transoms. The primary bedroom includes a copper soaking tub and a wall of mirrored closets, as well as one of the apartment's five woodburning fireplaces.
The modern kitchen features oak cabinetry and a rolling library ladder, while the L-shaped floor plan also includes secondary bedrooms and a library. Chastain is not the first famous artist to inhabit the home, having purchased it from composer Adam Guettel in 2015.
The Osborne building, one of the first luxury apartment buildings in America, is an iconic Gilded Age cooperative with exclusive perks like a 24/7 doorman, landscaped roof terrace, and live-in resident manager. The listing is now represented by Carl Gambino of Compass.
