ity officials mailed the second‑half 2025 real‑estate tax notices; payment is due Monday, Nov. 17. Rate: $1.135 per $100 assessed. Late payments incur a 5 % penalty if paid by Dec. 2; thereafter 10 % or $10, whichever is higher. Interest starts Nov. 18 at 10 % for the first year, then 5 %. Bills also include a $250 refuse fee per can and a $170.15 storm‑water fee per residential unit.
Taxpayers affected by the federal shutdown—including contractors and those with proven hardship—may request a payment plan. Penalties and interest still accrue, but plans defer immediate payments.

Balances are viewable online 24/7. Payments may be made by credit card (fee applies), e‑check (no fee), mail to P.O. Box 34750, Alexandria, VA 22334‑0750, or dropped in the 24‑hour box on the Royal Street side of City Hall by midnight, Nov. 17.
