Beyond the Empty Lot: Uncovering Hidden Assets

A mythical creature makes a surprise appearance to showcase the beauty of Maine's wilderness.

R
eal estate agent Orion Moquin is making waves with a 12-acre listing in Waterboro, Maine. The property photos feature a mysterious figure lurking in the woods - Bigfoot. Moquin, an agent with Real Broker, wanted to create buzz for the vacant land parcel priced at $165,000.

To grab attention, Moquin donned a Bigfoot costume for a quirky photo shoot with co-listing agent Colin Amidon behind the camera. The listing photos show Bigfoot wandering through trees and near the property's stream, even caught in a snowball fight.

Moquin's listing copy invites buyers to explore the land: "You'll feel mostly alone in these beautiful woods, and you might catch a glimpse of local wildlife at the brook." He wasn't concerned about scaring off buyers, but rather his personal safety during hunting season.

The Bigfoot photos have generated national attention for Moquin's listing. He joins a growing list of agents using creative costumes to promote listings, from T-Rexes to Spiderman suits. "It's about being creative in terms of how we get exposure for our sellers," he says.

Moquin believes that casual browsing on real estate platforms is evolving into a more social experience, where people share and discuss listings. Bigfoot has worked its magic before - Moquin used the character to sell an 11-acre parcel in Northwood, N.H., about a year ago.

While still searching for a buyer, Moquin hopes the extra attention will drum up interest soon. He's open to using Bigfoot again on future listings and even considers incorporating the character into his existing logo. For Moquin, it's about keeping buyers engaged and ready to take a closer look at properties like this one.

Abandoned lot transformed into thriving community space with vibrant murals and greenery.
