Boston's Historic Boxer Hotel in West End Sold to New Owner

JLL's Hotels & Hospitality Group Announces Sale of The Boxer Boston to Eurostars Hotels Company.

T
he Boxer Boston, a restored 80-key historic hotel in Boston's vibrant West End neighborhood, has been sold to Eurostars Hotels Company. JLL represented the seller, Hersha Hotels & Resorts, in the transaction.

Originally built in 1904, The Boxer Boston combines historic charm with contemporary elegance. A $1 million renovation in 2013 transformed the property into a stylish hotel, and additional updates were made to the restaurant and lobby in 2019-2020. Guestrooms feature Boston-inspired decor, including industrial-chic elements and modern touches.

Located at 107 Merrimac St., The Boxer Boston is within walking distance of TD Garden, the Charles River Esplanade, and numerous entertainment venues. It's also close to One Congress, a major office space, and North Station, a transportation hub. Massachusetts General Hospital's main campus is nearby.

The acquisition marks Eurostars Hotels Company's fifth hotel in the US, furthering its international growth strategy. According to Amancio López Seijas, President of Grupo Hotusa and Eurostars Hotels Company, "the addition of The Boxer strengthens our presence in strategic locations and promotes quality urban tourism." This milestone solidifies Eurostars' position as a global hospitality leader.

JLL's team representing the seller was led by Managing Director Alan Suzuki. He noted that The Boxer's prime location, strong cash flow, and unencumbered status made it an attractive investment opportunity. Boston's resilient lodging fundamentals, driven by diverse demand generators, continue to support the city's hotel market.
