his month, two Arkansas real estate trailblazers will be recognized for their enduring impact on the industry. John Flake and Timothy Grooms are set to receive the prestigious Commercial Real Estate Council Legend Award at the 7th Annual Commercial Real Estate Awards.
The ceremony will take place on February 25th at 5:30 p.m. at the Little Rock Junior League Headquarters Building, located at 401 South Scott Street. Past recipients of this honor include notable figures such as Dickson Flake and Jimmy Moses.
John Flake's legacy in commercial real estate spans over five decades. As a certified commercial investment manager for 50 years, he has been instrumental in shaping downtown Little Rock's skyline. His vision led to the development of the iconic Simmons Bank Building, originally known as Capitol Tower, in 1986. Flake's extensive portfolio includes notable clients such as Baptist Health, Walmart, and Verizon.
Grooms' impressive career is marked by his expertise in negotiating complex retail, office, and commercial space leases for major national retailers and developers across Arkansas and the Mid-South. He has served as legal counsel to prominent projects like Simmons Bank Arena and Heifer Project International's World Headquarters. Grooms' commitment to the industry has earned him recognition as a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers.
