Del Valle development linked to surfing legend Kelly Slater's involvement

Arizona Developer Teams Up with Kelly Slater on Surf-Themed Condo Project Near Austin

A
surfing-themed condominium project is underway in Del Valle, a suburb southeast of Austin, with Kelly Slater's involvement. Discovery Land Company and Slater are redeveloping the former NLand Surf Park site into a surf-and-condo community called the Austin Surf Club. The project echoes the success of Slater's Surf Ranch in California.

The community will feature over 140 condos, restaurants, a spa and wellness center, and a lake for fishing and paddleboarding. A 2,220-square-foot surf basin designed by Slater will allow surfers to ride waves of all ages and skill levels. The project has already seen strong interest, with 18 condominium deeds transferred since August.

A homeowners association has been established, and construction is underway. Despite concerns about water availability in Central Texas due to drought, the development signals a renewed interest in water-based recreation in the area. Other developers are also exploring similar ventures, including Aventuur and Surf Lakes Holdings.

Del Valle has seen significant investment from companies like Neuralink and Hines, with plans for 2,500 single-family lots, multifamily units, and commercial real estate. The Austin Surf Club is expected to be a major addition to the area's growing development scene.
