esidents are set to move into the first Disney-designed neighborhood, Cotino, in the Coachella Valley this spring. Located in Rancho Mirage, over 100 miles from Disneyland, Cotino is a master-planned community inspired by Disney's "world-famous placemaking." The 618-acre property will eventually feature 1,700 homes, condominiums, and hotel rooms.

    The development's price point is steep, with two-bedroom cottages starting at over $1 million and the largest estates reaching up to $4 million. A portion of the homes will be reserved for adults 55+. Cotino is being marketed as a "creative oasis" for Disney fans, offering a unique living experience with Disney-inspired amenities.

    The community's centerpiece will be a 24-acre man-made lake, Cotino Bay, surrounded by Disney-themed restaurants, shopping, and recreational spaces. The town center will feature a waterfront clubhouse, parks, event space, and a creative studio staffed by Disney Castmembers.

    Disney chose the Coachella Valley for its natural beauty and Walt Disney's personal connection to the area. He once owned a home there, and his love of nature and exploration influenced the design of Cotino. The community is part of Disney's growing interest in real estate, following successful ventures like Celebration and Golden Oak. With the recent purchase of land in North Carolina for its second Storyliving by Disney community, Asteria, Disney is expanding its footprint in the industry.
