op tech companies are rapidly expanding their data center presence across the US, with Meta not wanting to fall behind. The company's capital expenditures for this year are expected to range from $60 billion to $65 billion, a significant increase from last year's $38 billion to $40 billion. Much of this budget will go towards building and expanding data centers to support its growing artificial intelligence needs.
Meta has already invested in several large-scale data center projects, including a 4-million-square-foot facility in Louisiana and an $800 million development in Central Texas. However, the company's spending pales in comparison to Microsoft, which plans to spend $80 billion on data center projects this year, with over half of that allocated for US developments.
Amazon has also been actively investing in data centers, more than doubling its industrial acquisitions last year to over $2 billion. Meanwhile, a new joint venture called Stargate is set to invest at least $100 billion in data centers, further fueling the industry's growth.
