aisal Halum, a prominent real estate broker in Texas, recently made a move from Briggs Freeman Sotheby's International Real Estate to Compass. His team, known as the Faisal Halum Group, was ranked second in Texas in terms of volume last year, with a total of $188 million in sales, according to RealTrends Verified. This move comes at a time when significant changes are happening across the brokerage industry, driven by the National Association of Realtors' landmark commissions settlement and persistently high mortgage rates.
Halum's background in architecture and a degree in building construction have allowed him to specialize in selling architecturally significant homes, estates, and high-rise condominiums to high-profile clients such as athletes, celebrities, and socialites. He believes that Dallas condos are currently undervalued, despite the fact that Dallas buyers typically prefer single-family homes over condos compared to other major cities. In July, condos were sold for less per square foot on average than single-family homes in Dallas, at $240 per square foot compared to $261 for condos and $187 for single-family homes in Texas as a whole, according to flyhomes.
Halum's expertise extends beyond high-end condos to single-family homes and estates. He recently facilitated the sale of a modern 9,000 square foot estate in May, listed for $7.85 million, and another home listed at $750,000 near Munger Place, according to Zillow. His total sales volume this year is estimated to be over $100 million.
Other notable movers in the industry include Carter Bechtol moving to Triten and Jon Farris joining Stream Realty. In the residential market, Elliman's Thor Brown has made a move to Compass in Palm Beach. Maggie Marshall has also made a switch, trading Elliman for Compass.
