T
he Malin, a boutique co-working company, is expanding its presence in Manhattan with a new location at 895 Broadway. The company has leased the top two floors of this historic Flatiron building, spanning 33,000 square feet. The space will feature a mezzanine level, private offices, and amenities such as desks.
The building, which also houses an Equinox gym on its lower three floors, was originally built in the 1860s for Lord & Taylor. It has undergone several transformations over the years, including a renovation by Saint Laurie in 1984. Equinox leased the building in 1993 and converted it into a gym and office space.
The Malin's new location is expected to open in the spring. Founded by Irish furniture designer Ciaran McGuigan, the company focuses on stylishly designed spaces and has already opened another location at TF Cornerstone's 387 Park Avenue this month. The move comes as demand for co-working space grows in the wake of the pandemic, with companies seeking flexible options to adapt to changing needs.
The lease terms were not disclosed, but Equinox holds the master lease for the building. This marks a significant expansion for The Malin, which is capitalizing on the opportunity presented by WeWork's bankruptcy and the shifting office market.
