Florida Condo of Controversial Televangelist Sees Price Cut to $14.6M

Billionaire televangelist Edir Macedo lists $14.6 million Florida condo amid luxury church asset controversy.

I
n the rarefied world of luxury real estate, a prized beachfront condo in Florida is up for grabs. The opulent residence, situated in the ultra-exclusive Porsche Design Tower Miami, has been listed for $14.6 million after a price reduction. Its owner, Brazilian billionaire televangelist Edir Macedo, is no stranger to controversy or lavish living. As the founder and bishop of the Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus (Universal Church of the Kingdom of God), Macedo's net worth is estimated at $1.8 billion, placing him among the world's elite.

Macedo's neighbors in the Porsche Design Tower have included international celebrities like Lionel Messi and Colombian pop star Maluma. The tower's unique feature – car elevators that transport luxury vehicles directly into private condo garages – has made it a magnet for billionaires. However, Macedo's family may not be the only ones with ties to the U.S. real estate market. A property intelligence database suggests another Sunny Isles Beach condo worth $9.6 million is linked to the family.

The Trinity Foundation, a nonprofit that investigates religious fraud, has long tracked Macedo's financial activities. His empire includes media companies, banking interests, and international real estate. The Universal Church operates worldwide, with a presence in Portugal, Mexico, and the United States. Despite its wealth and power, the church claims on its U.S. website to not provide financial aid programs.

Macedo's organization has faced legal troubles, including charges of laundering $2 billion in Brazil in 2008. Although he was not convicted, other leaders of his church have been charged with financial crimes in Angola. The Universal Church did not respond to FOX Business' request for comment.
