oan Trew, co-founder of Williams Trew Real Estate in Fort Worth, passed away on December 31 at the age of 92. With a career spanning over four decades, Trew was not only a leader in residential real estate but also played a significant role in Fort Worth's business, arts, and nonprofit community alongside her partner Martha Williams.
Trew announced her retirement in 2021, but her legacy continues to shape the company she co-founded with Williams. After joining Ebby Halliday Companies, an affiliate of Berkshire Hathaway's HomeServices of America, Williams Trew celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, acknowledging Trew's profound impact on the community.
The real estate community mourned Trew's loss, with Suzanne Westrum, CEO of the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors, praising her as a "true pioneer" and "unwavering source of encouragement and inspiration." Trew was born in Alabama in 1932 and moved to Fort Worth in 1950. She became licensed in 1977 and later formed Williams Trew with Marshall Boyd in 2000.
Trew's achievements include being named a Great Woman of Texas by the Fort Worth Business Press in 2002 and receiving the R.L. Purvis Distinguished Service Award from the Greater Fort Worth Association of Realtors. She was also honored as one of the Fort Worth Business Executives of the Year in 2016.
A celebration of life will be held at University Baptist Church on January 11, with a reception following.
