G
oogle has renewed its lease at a 196,200 square foot office campus in Irvine. The Mountain View-based search engine extended its lease at the two-building complex on Jamboree Road, according to Savills. This deal was the largest office lease transaction in Orange County during the third quarter. Google has occupied the offices for over a decade as part of a 573,000-square-foot campus owned by Jacaranda Holdings.
The property is managed by Sycamore Land Management, led by Donald Berry and Lance Lenhert. The building was previously purchased by an entity affiliated with Jack Dangermond, founder of Esri, in 2016 for $255 million. Google's lease renewal comes after the company has undergone significant layoffs, including 12,000 employees last year.
Alphabet, Google's parent company, has also incurred "exit costs" to close offices and terminate leases across the US. This includes a major lease that was scuttled in West Los Angeles when UCLA purchased the former Westside Pavilion mall for $700 million.
