J
im Carrey has finally sold his sprawling Brentwood home after a prolonged and discounted sale process. The 63-year-old actor's property, which he owned for over two decades, was listed at $17 million, a significant drop from its original price of $28.9 million in early 2023.

Carrey had previously stated that he no longer spent much time at the 2-acre residence, and the steep price cuts reflect this reduced interest. Despite the losses incurred by Los Angeles' "mansion tax," Carrey still made a substantial profit on his longtime home, which he purchased for $3.8 million in 1994.

The 1950s-era ranch-style home boasts mid-century charm with modernized amenities, including a tennis court, waterfall pool, yoga and meditation area, and an Art Deco movie theater. The 11,000-square-foot abode features five bedrooms, nine bathrooms, and six fireplaces.

After two years of price cuts and one failed sale during California's wildfire season, the property narrowly avoided a direct hit from the fires that blazed through Los Angeles in January. Carrey's representative, Graham Larson of Sotheby's International Realty, facilitated the sale to an unknown buyer represented by Sam Collins, David Parnes, James Harris, and Carolwood.

The final sale price marks a 41% discount from the original listing price, but still represents a significant profit for Carrey. The actor has been open about his tentative plans for retirement from Hollywood, making this sale a notable milestone in his career.
