PMorgan Chase is expanding its San Francisco office by 60,000 square feet as it shifts to a five-day workweek. The bank is nearing a deal to lease an additional 280,000 square feet at the Financial District's 560 Mission Street, bringing its total space in the JPMorgan Building to 950,000 square feet. This expansion comes as the firm consolidates employees into one tower, including those from First Republic, which it acquired in 2023.
The existing lease for 220,000 square feet at the 31-story building was set to expire this year. The bank plans to shrink its footprint at 1 Front Street by 244,000 square feet as leases expire, leaving behind 102,000 square feet across two leases ending in 2029 and 2030.
JPMorgan's expansion will provide space for employees to work five days a week, up from three days starting in March. This move follows Google's announcement that it would exit its 300,000-square-foot office at One Market Plaza once its lease expires in April.
