Lauder Heir Sells NYC Mansion Amid Estee Lauder Exit Scandal

Makeup mogul's 12th-floor penthouse spans 5,500 sq ft, occupying entire floor of 778 Park Ave.

W
illiam Lauder, the ousted executive director of Estée Lauder Companies, has put his Upper East Side co-op on the market for $26.95 million. The listing was first reported by Curbed, citing a downsizing effort from Lauder.

The building at 778 Park Ave., designed by Rosario Candela, features grand proportions and handsome wooden walls. Lauder owns a full-floor unit on the 14th floor but is selling his adjacent unit on the 12th floor to downsize after his children have grown up.

Lauder purchased the residence last year for $24.95 million from Claudia Cohen's estate. The 5,500-square-foot unit comes with five bedrooms, five bathrooms, two powder rooms, and Central Park views through large windows. It features high ceilings, herringbone floors, three woodburning fireplaces, and a private elevator landing.

The building offers amenities such as a gym, yoga/massage room, and beauty salon. Lauder is not selling his 14th-floor unit but rather downsizing to focus on the space he loves in the building, which he plans to stay in despite the change.
