very year, thousands of people seek to buy homes, but many struggle to afford the costs. Wealthy individuals, who can often purchase properties outright, typically don't face this issue. The upper middle class may not be able to buy their dream home, but they can still find a suitable option.
Luxury homeowners want high-end features in their homes, and broker Jeff Lichtenstein of Echo Fine Properties Jupiter Homes has identified 10 design trends his clients are embracing in 2025. Here's what's hot:
Gray kitchens are giving way to darker hues, with luxury buyers opting for rich wood tones and quartz composite stone paired with LED lighting.
Colorful appliances are making a statement in high-end kitchens, with bold red, yellow, and royal blue units adding a pop of color. However, Lichtenstein cautions that too much color can be overwhelming, suggesting a mix of stainless steel and colorful knobs as a compromise.
Porcelain floors have become the new luxury standard, prized for their ease of maintenance and durability. Marble is still used for walls, but its popularity has waned in favor of porcelain's versatility.
Onyx slabs are gaining traction, particularly for wall coverings, but Lichtenstein warns that they're too porous for countertops.
Floor tiles are getting bigger, with 48-inch porcelain squares becoming the norm. Lighted countertops and electric fireplaces are also must-haves, adding a touch of luxury to kitchens and living spaces.
Metal is being used in innovative ways, including as wall coverings, while shower jets have become increasingly elaborate, featuring up to 15 nozzles for a spa-like experience.
Finally, artificial grass/turf has become a popular choice among luxury homeowners, offering low maintenance and year-round greenery without the need for sprinkler systems.
