n a celebration of Massachusetts' thriving business landscape, MassEcon honored 14 trailblazing organizations for their outstanding contributions to the state's economy. These companies, selected from across the Commonwealth, stood out for their remarkable job growth, facility expansions, and investments since January 1, 2024.
From Greater Boston to Western Massachusetts, these winners spanned various industries, including manufacturing, biotechnology, climate tech, and medical devices. Their commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives was also a key factor in their selection.
At the UMass Boston ceremony, attended by over 350 business leaders, Governor Maura Healey and Yvonne Hao, Secretary of Economic Development, praised the awardees for their dedication to Massachusetts' growth and prosperity. The winning companies had undergone site visits and a Finalists Showcase, where they presented a compelling "pitch" for their Gold, Silver, or Bronze award.
The collective impact of these company expansion projects totals $280 million in investments, 1.152 million square feet of expanded facilities, and the addition of 822 jobs to the state's economy. Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey expressed her gratitude to the awardees, stating, "Your commitment to enhancing our economy and providing opportunity is an asset to Massachusetts."
Werfen received its second Economic Impact Award, while Moderna earned its second award for regional expansion in Massachusetts, as well as the Summit Achievement Award for continued growth and investment throughout the state. The Innovation Excellence Award was presented to Berkshire Innovation Center for driving innovation and sustainable growth in the Berkshires.
Dave Bugbee, Managing Director at Citizens, praised the awardees, saying, "This year's winners have made a significant impact on the Massachusetts economy, demonstrating the range of industries that can thrive here."
