he Healey-Driscoll Administration's Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) has released its 2024 End of Year Report, highlighting key achievements from the past year. Through collaborative efforts with government officials, stakeholders, and partners, Massachusetts is becoming a healthier and more sustainable place to live.
Governor Maura Healey emphasized that EEA is at the forefront of addressing climate change, reducing energy costs, and promoting outdoor activities in the state. Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll noted significant progress in streamlining permitting processes and building resilient communities. Secretary Rebecca Tepper highlighted the importance of achieving energy independence and strengthening communities despite challenges like record-breaking droughts and fires.
Some notable accomplishments from EEA's year include:
* The passage of a landmark climate bill, advancing clean energy and community engagement
* Over $240 million awarded to 1,545 individual grantees for impactful projects across the state
* Launching the "Climate Action is for All of Us" Campaign to promote sustainable actions
* Awarding over $52 million in Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness action grants
* Establishing the first-in-the-nation cumulative impact analysis regulations for air permits
* Securing over $1 billion in federal funding for climate initiatives, including low-cost solar and heat pumps
