A
federal judge in Miami has denied bail to Tal Alexander, a prominent real estate broker accused of sex trafficking and assault, deeming him a flight risk due to his family's wealth. Magistrate Judge Lisette Reid rejected the $115 million bond package proposed by Alexander's family, which would have covered all three brothers, including twins Oren and Alon Alexander.
The prosecution argued that even with house arrest and GPS monitoring, Tal Alexander could flee to Israel on a private jet, making extradition difficult or impossible. Federal prosecutor Lauren Astigarraga compared the case to music mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is being held without bail on similar charges.
FBI Special Agent Justine Atwood testified that approximately 40 women have made allegations of being lured by the brothers to luxurious locations and then drugged and raped. The evidence includes graphic videos, photos, and text messages exchanged between the brothers.
Alexander's attorney argued that while the allegations are serious, the evidence is thin, but his argument was unsuccessful. Alexander will be transported to a federal jail in New York, where the charges were filed on Wednesday. His twin brothers, Oren and Alon, had been granted bail earlier in state court, but due to the federal charges, they remain held pending their own hearing.
The Alexander twins are accused of using their wealth to lure, drug, and sexually assault multiple women over more than a decade. They face federal sex trafficking charges and state charges for alleged sexual battery in Florida.
