Mixed-Use Project Approved in BH's Plantation Area

Plantation City Council Approves Mixed-Use Complex on Former AT&T Campus.

R
elated Group and BH Group secured final approval to develop Plantation City Center, a mixed-use complex on a former AT&T campus in Plantation. The project's site plan and six zoning waivers were approved by the Plantation City Council last week with a 6-1 vote, without any discussion from council members. The approvals included reducing parking spaces from 1,246 to 833 and allowing an eight-story building, exceeding the city's five-story limit.

The complex will feature 512 apartments and townhomes, 24,970 square feet of retail space, and a 399-space garage on a 13.7-acre site at 8601 West Sunrise Boulevard. Related Group is led by Jorge Pérez and his sons Jon Paul and Nick Pérez, while BH Group is led by Liat and Isaac Toledano.

In exchange for the waivers, the developers agreed to provide 51 workforce housing apartments for people earning up to 120% of area median income. The project will consist of two-story townhouses, multifamily buildings, retail spaces, and an eight-story apartment building designed by Arquitectonica.

The site was purchased last year by Related and BH for $13 million, with plans to demolish the existing AT&T training center. This is not the first collaboration between the two developers; they have partnered on several mixed-use projects across South Florida, including a W Hotels-branded condo-hotel in Pompano Beach.

In other developments, Related, BH, and Pebb Enterprises acquired a downtown Fort Lauderdale property for $48.5 million and are working on plans to redevelop it into a mixed-use project with 361 residential units and retail space.

BH's Plantation Area mixed-use project approved, featuring new development plans.
