Melville attorney, Michael Tulchiner, is accused of embezzling over $413,000 from a client's real estate transaction. According to authorities, Tulchiner was hired to represent the client during the closing and was given a refinance loan with specific instructions on how it should be used.
However, investigators claim that Tulchiner misused the funds, using them for his law firm and other unrelated expenses instead of paying off the client's property sale. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney described the alleged actions as a "gross violation" of trust.
Tulchiner has pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
