MLS Members Gain Access to 300k Data Points through Shared Resource

Three largest MLSs expand listing data access in major U.S. markets, with new investor joining Broker Public Portal.

T
he three largest multiple listing services (MLSs) in the US are expanding access to listing data across densely populated areas. California Regional MLS has partnered with Stellar MLS in Florida, following agreements with Bright MLS and Beaches MLS. This allows nearly 300,000 real estate professionals to view listings across major markets, facilitating interstate transactions.

The partnership is a significant step towards breaking down regional barriers and empowering agents with seamless data access. Merri Jo Cowen, CEO of Stellar MLS, calls it "a defining moment" for the industry. Data sharing has become a strategy for many MLSs as an alternative to consolidation, but the Department of Justice's scrutiny of data sharing in other industries serves as a reminder to be aware of potential antitrust implications.

Doorify MLS, serving nearly 15,000 real estate professionals in North Carolina, has invested in Broker Public Portal. This platform aims to create a national consumer home search site controlled by brokerages and MLSs. By taking ownership, Doorify ensures the industry retains control over its technology infrastructure and data. The partnership is seen as essential for Broker Public Portal's public relaunch, with 44 brokerages and 48 MLSs now partnered, serving over 1 million agents.

MLS members access 300k data points through shared resource platform nationwide.
