atna Mohamed remembers the difficulties of finding a suitable home when she arrived in Syracuse from war-torn Sudan in 2011 with her family. As newcomers who didn't know anyone in the community and were still learning English, they faced a daunting task in improving their living situation.
Mohamed is now part of the Northside Futures steering committee, working to address housing challenges for families like hers. A vacant apartment house on Park Street will be renovated and rented to two families served by the Northside Learning Center, marking a step towards creating more stable homes for those in need.
