T
he Northampton Board of Supervisors made several key decisions at their meeting, including a unanimous vote to increase the income limit for real estate tax exemptions. The new limits will see household incomes rise from $50,000 to $57,500, with a corresponding increase in net worth from $100,000 to $115,000. Additionally, the amount of annual income excluded for relatives living in the dwelling has increased from $3,000 to $3,450.
The board also approved the purchase of a new ambulance at a cost of $341,000, including necessary equipment. A low bid was accepted from a Yorktown company to construct the Oyster fishing pier, and a change order was granted to complete the Willis Wharf bulkhead project.
Other items on the agenda included budget requests from county departments and agencies, as well as a presentation from Granicus, a company offering short-term rental monitoring services. However, no action was taken on these topics.
At a public hearing on the tax changes, Andrew Santucci Jr. expressed concerns that some residents might be hesitant to participate due to privacy issues surrounding financial disclosures. Despite this, he noted that he would now qualify for the program under the revised limits.
