T
he Center for Elders' Independence has secured a lease for a 23,000-square-foot office space at the newly renovated Broadway Medical Plaza in Oakland's Pill Hill neighborhood. The nonprofit medical provider will occupy part of the three-story building at 3901 Broadway, which was redeveloped by Meridian Property from an assembly hall purchased in 2022 for $13.5 million. To attract high-quality tenants, Meridian upgraded the building with glass walls, two elevators, and a new heating and air conditioning system.
The Center for Elders' Independence will take up nearly 38% of the available office space, with 37,000 square feet still on the market. The nonprofit plans to move in this spring after completing tenant improvements. "We are thrilled to expand our services into Pill Hill," said Maria Zamora, CEO of the center. "The Broadway Medical Plaza is a perfect fit for us."
Meridian Property specializes in healthcare and life science properties and has built over 15 campuses and 150 buildings across the US. The company's redevelopment of the Broadway Medical Plaza aims to meet the growing demand for high-quality office space in the area, driven by a flight to quality among office tenants following the pandemic.
