ormer Ambassador to France Jamie D. McCourt purchased the "Fore and Aft House" at 1221 N. Lake Way for $19.2 million through a trust, according to Palm Beach deed records. The property was sold by a limited liability company linked to art dealer Mark Glimcher and designer Fairfax Dorn, who had acquired it in 2021 for $14.3 million.
The house, built in 1937, features Nautical Art Moderne architecture with distinctive ship-shape details such as porthole-style windows, curved design elements, and pipe railings. The property spans about a third of an acre, with approximately 65 feet of lakefront and a dock with a boat lift.
McCourt, who served as ambassador to France and Monaco from 2017 to 2021, bought the house through her role as trustee of the Sunflower Trust. She is also an attorney, entrepreneur, and former CEO of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team.
The property underwent significant renovations in 2019 by Palm Beach developer Todd Michael Glaser and his wife, Kim, who used it as their personal residence before selling it to Glimcher's company. The renovation project won the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach's Polly Earl Award for its historically sensitive updates.
After the sale, the house underwent additional improvements, including the replacement of the air-conditioning system. Agents Lisa and John Cregan of Sotheby's International Realty handled both sides of the deal, which closed at an asking price of $23.5 million after initially being listed for $24.95 million in June 2024.
