PIMCO Names New Head of Real Estate Investments

Pimco Experiences Ongoing String of Exits, Hires and Promotions.

P
IMCO is experiencing leadership changes in its commercial real estate private lending arm. Ravi Anand, co-head of the division, will leave at year-end after less than a year in the role. Roman Kogan, who joined Pimco in 2020, will take over as sole leader and work alongside Will Dionisio, Senior Vice President and Portfolio Manager.

The departure follows several shakeups this summer, including the planned retirement of Christoph Donner, CEO for the U.S. at Pimco Prime Real Estate. Peggy DaSilva has taken on Donner's role in addition to her existing position, reporting directly to global CEO François Trausch.

PIMCO has also made new hires, including Matt Michalovsky as head of U.S. commercial real estate equity. Michalovsky joins from ArrowMark Partners and previously held a similar role at Pimco from 2012-2022.

The company's real estate holdings have faced challenges in recent years, particularly with its acquisition of Columbia Property Trust in 2021. The subsidiary defaulted on a $1.7B loan tied to seven office buildings in February 2023 but recently obtained an extension until July 2025. Pimco is owned by Allianz SE and manages over $1.8T in total assets, with its real estate arms managing $189B at the end of March.
