A
Plantation woman accused of running a real estate scam has been arrested and charged with four felonies. Donnamarie Myers, 53, allegedly collected nearly $200,000 from victims who thought they were renting or buying homes through her services. However, authorities claim she was operating without a valid real estate license after it was revoked in March 2021.
According to an arrest affidavit, Myers would collect deposits from victims via wire transfer, cash, and other digital payment methods, assuring them the funds would be deposited into escrow accounts. Instead, the money went directly into her personal accounts. The victims were left without their homes or reimbursement for their lost funds.
Myers was arrested Thursday after turning herself in at the Broward County Main Jail. She is being held on a $30,000 bond and faces charges of first-degree grand theft, obtaining property over $50,000 by fraud, defrauding a financial institution, and identity theft.
