heat advisory remains in effect from 10 AM this morning to 7 PM CDT Thursday for parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Missouri.

    Heat index values are expected to reach 100-105 degrees. Affected areas include north central, northwest, and west central Illinois, east central, northeast, and southeast Iowa, and northeast Missouri.

    Hot temperatures and high humidity may lead to heat-related illnesses during this time. To stay safe:

    Drink plenty of fluids and stay in air-conditioned spaces.

    Avoid the sun and check on vulnerable neighbors and relatives.

    For outdoor workers, take regular breaks in shaded or cooled areas.

    If someone is overcome by heat, move them to a cool location immediately.

    Heat stroke is an emergency - call 911 if you suspect it.
