Real Estate Market Sees Price Increases, Modest Sales Decline

Brown County real estate sales in May saw a slight decrease from 2024, with median price increasing by double digits.

eal estate sales in Brown County took a slight dip in May compared to the same month last year, but prices saw a notable surge. According to the Heartland Association of Realtors, here are the key statistics:

    The median home price jumped 19.8% to $257,500, while the median price per square foot increased by 15.1% to $147.69.

    Sales numbers were down 2.2% with 44 closed transactions in May, but active listings rose 11.6% to 222. The months of inventory also increased by 1.1 month to 6.7.

    Other notable trends include a median home size of 1,844 square feet and a median year built of 1999. Homes sold for an average of 94% of their original list price.

    Price distribution was as follows: 11.4% of homes sold for under $100,000, 25% between $100,000-$199,999, 22.7% between $200,000-$299,999, and so on.

Homes in major cities experience price hikes, modest sales decrease nationwide slowly.
