eedsville resident Matthew Parkes, a 2002 Indian Valley High School graduate and Penn State University alumnus, has announced his candidacy for Brown Township supervisor. As a licensed real estate agent since 2009 and broker since 2017, Parkes has built a reputation as a dedicated professional and community advocate.

    Parkes owns RE/MAX Together in Reedsville, where he has been recognized as the top sales agent in Mifflin County multiple times. He serves on the Reedsville Community Board and was recently second chair of the Apple Fest committee for 2024. Parkes is committed to fostering growth, encouraging development, and preserving Brown Township's history.

    "I believe it's essential for our municipality to create an environment that supports residents and businesses," Parkes said. "As supervisor, I'll review our budget to implement cost-effective measures, seek external funding, emphasize fiscal responsibility, and promote sustainable growth while preserving our rich history."

    Parkes' background in real estate has honed his skills in financial planning, negotiation, and decision-making. His local roots, professional expertise, leadership experience, and community involvement make him confident he's the best candidate for the position.

    The primary election is set for May 20.
