T
he 2.37‑acre, Tuscan‑styled estate that once housed Ricky Martin, Michael Caine and the Doris Day family finally sold for $35 million—$40 million below its $75 million asking price. Martin bought the gated property in 2004 for $10.9 million, and after a brief stint on the market it was relisted by broker Carl Gambino at $49.9 million before closing at the discounted price.

The sprawling residence sits on a tree‑lined drive that ends in a motor court capable of holding more than 20 cars. Inside the grounds are a main house, a guest house, a tennis‑court pavilion, a children’s playground and a security house. From its elevated position the property offers sweeping views of the Los Angeles skyline and the Pacific Ocean. It neighbors the estates of the Pritzker and Murdoch families, and the future site of the Gates estate.

The sale marked a bright spot in a year that saw LA’s luxury market struggle under a new mansion tax and the after‑effects of January 2025 wildfires. Many high‑end homes, including the hilltop property once owned by Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck and Milwaukee Brewers minority owner Robert Beyer’s Brentwood estate, were sold at steep discounts. The $35 million deal, closed in December, was the latest example of the market’s shift toward more realistic pricing.

The property’s most recent deed in 2018 listed an LLC owner, 1309 Davies, but the final transaction was handled by Gambino’s team. The buyer remains unnamed, and Gambino declined to comment on the details.
