atie Sweeney, Rocket Pro's EVP of strategy and broker advocacy, is on a mission to create leverage for brokers. Her role at the intersection of government affairs, product development, and industry advocacy gives her a unique perspective on what drives residential real estate success.
Sweeney didn't plan on becoming an advocate for mortgage brokers, but she wears her new role with clarity and conviction. She believes that helping people is key to making a difference, and she's committed to creating opportunities for others to do the same.
Before joining Rocket, Sweeney worked in health care marketing and later moved into product development at Pacific Union Financial. Her success earned her a promotion, and she eventually co-founded the Broker Action Coalition (BAC) alongside Brendan McKay. Through her advocacy work, Sweeney first encountered Rocket, but she was initially skeptical due to public perception.
However, after building relationships with Rocket's leadership, including Dan Sogorka, who joined as general manager, Sweeney discovered that they were aligned on key issues affecting the industry. This led to an opportunity for her to join Rocket and scale her advocacy work.
As EVP of strategy and broker advocacy at Rocket, Sweeney is a visible force in D.C. and statehouses, pushing for broker-inclusive policy. Her priorities include trigger leads, affordable housing, and increasing engagement at the state level. Within Rocket, she works across product, tech, and operations to ensure that the broker point of view is central.
Sweeney rejects rumors that recent acquisitions signal a retreat from broker support, stating that Rocket remains committed to this channel. She hinted at future announcements aimed at providing more access to resources for brokers.
As a vocal advocate for women in leadership, Sweeney aims to change the industry's disconnect between female representation and mortgage purchase decisions. She's committed to building her "girl gang" of up-and-coming women with potential and bringing younger professionals into the industry through various business models.
Sweeney believes that success in the mortgage industry doesn't require an advanced degree, making it a powerful career choice for those looking to change their family's future. She encourages aspiring professionals to celebrate leaders who prove that success can be achieved while maintaining a soul.
