ockstar Energy's billionaire founder, Russell Weiner, has acquired Rosie O'Donnell's former Star Island estate in Florida for $35.3 million. This purchase more than doubles the property's value from its previous sale price, further solidifying the exclusive enclave's allure.
The Mediterranean-style villa, dating back to the 1920s, boasts eight bedrooms, a bar, and a rooftop terrace. The 1.1-acre property also features two guesthouses, a bean-shaped pool with a slide, and a private dock with a 40,000-pound boat lift.
Weiner's purchase price is significantly lower than the original listing of $54 million, which was later reduced to $48 million in March. This sale marks another high-profile transaction on Star Island, where A-listers like Gloria Estefan, Ken Griffin, and Jennifer Lopez reside.
The property has seen a significant increase in value over the years, with its worth rising by 423% over the last 26 years. Weiner's acquisition is also notable given his history of investing in multimillion-dollar real estate across South Florida, Beverly Hills, and Park City.
Weiner plans to expand and renovate the estate to approximately 15,000 square feet, adding luxury amenities such as a spa, gym, cabana, and padel court. The sale was represented by Compass agent Liz Hogan, who also represented the seller in the transaction.
