Ron Rhodes, real‑estate developer, dies

on Rhodes, 78, Arkansas State University Distinguished Alumnus and longtime businessman, died Tuesday, Nov. 18. King‑Rhodes & Associates announced the loss, saying, “We mourn Ron’s passing. He was our owner, broker, agent, and a mentor, leader, and friend.” A memorial service will be held Dec. 6; details to follow.

    Rhodes graduated from A‑State in 1970 with an education degree and spent over five decades shaping real‑estate and community development in north‑central Arkansas. He owned and brokered King‑Rhodes & Associates, Inc., and partnered with American Land Company, developers of Cherokee Village.

    He served two five‑year terms on the A‑State Board of Trustees, chairing it once, and was named trustee emeritus. Rhodes was a Sustaining Life member of the Alumni Association and a Letterwinners Club member.

    He married Brenda, his A‑State classmate, 54 years ago. A native of Corning, he was active in many civic groups. In 2025 he was honored as an A‑State Distinguished Alumnus.
