trava is relocating its headquarters to a larger office space in Downtown San Francisco's Transbay District. The fitness-tracking app maker has subleased a 41,000-square-foot office at 181 Fremont Street from Meta, the parent company of Facebook. This move comes after Strava outgrew its current 34,000-square-foot headquarters in the Mission District and Potrero Hill area.
The new space offers nearly 21% more room for the tech firm's employees. Meta had put all its offices up for rent last year as part of a portfolio recalibration, following an executive's description of a "recalibration" of their office spaces. The terms of Strava's lease were not disclosed.
JLL represented Meta in the deal, while Cushman & Wakefield represented Strava. This sublease is one of several large deals in San Francisco's office market, which has seen a significant shift to remote work during the pandemic. Other tech firms, including Nevan and Zendesk, have also subleased space from Meta at 181 Fremont Street.
The building still has 317,000 square feet available for lease, with Meta's lease expiring in March 2031.
